PRC Water Supply

The Department of Health have mandated that all hydrants must be fitted with anti-back flow devices. This is designed to  prevent, for example, someone else's wastewater being suctioned into the system and then delivered to your property. 

At the July 2018 business meeting it was agreed that this should be the responsibility of the property owner. The Board therefore request that you inspect your water line and if there is no valve fitted one should be fitted as soon as possible. In cases where multiple hoses are fitted to one hydrant each hose should have a valve.

The Board feel that this is not an unreasonable request in view of the fact that the water and hydrant have been provided by the community at no cost to the landowners. These valves can be found at Lowe’s for $4.88 or Home Depot where the cost is cost is $6.98.

I should also mention that at the end of the season and before the first frost these need to be removed so that the hydrant can drain to below the frost line.
